History of American Catholicism

Father Charlie will teach a class on the history of American Catholicism from the period of Mission and Colonial Catholicism to the present.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to understand and appreciate the experience of Catholic missionaries, colonists, ethnic immigrant groups, priests, religious and others who attempted to graft their distinctively religious values and beliefs and culture onto a landscape which was both welcoming and hostile.  The classes will also explore the encounter of Catholicism with American constitutional values, the political system and a predominantly Protestant religious pluralism.  Plan now to join others in LL Room 3 (located in the lower level of the church) from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on five consecutive Thursday evenings beginning on April 20.
