2019 Calendar

Football season begins on or around August 10. St. Paul typically fields one team per grade. All  coaches typically are St. Paul parents. In the event that the number of players signed up in grades 4th-6th warrant more than one team, the teams will be divided evenly by a draft conducted by the head coaches.

There are no tryouts at any grade level.

Minimum Playing Time (per player)

Diocese rule is that each player only needs to play one play per game. The following are the St. Paul standards:
Junior Reserve, Reserve and Sr. Reserve - 8 to 12 plays depending on # of players.
Jr. Varsity and Varsity follow the diocese standards.

We typically play 6 to 7 regular season games and 2 to 3 playoff games.
Home games are at St. Paul, Westerville Central or DeSales.
Away games are played at various fields throughout the Diocese.
Football games are primarily held on Sunday afternoons, there could be some Saturday afternoon or evening games. First game will be mid Sept with season continuing through 1st weekend in November. Effective starting 2010/2011 season, 4th grade will not have a season ending diocesan tournament.

Complete diocesan games schedules for all teams can be found on the Columbus Diocesan Recreation website.

Practice will begin on or about August 10th and are held weeknights and Sat mornings.  Diocese suggests no more than 6 hours per week for practice and up to another 1 1/2 for classroom work. There are potential practice conflicts with soccer but no game conflicts.

All equipment supplied except mouthpiece, protective cup, and cleats.

Ohio High School football rules apply for all grades. Amended rules specific to diocesan football can be found on the Columbus Diocesan Recreation website.
