Unless otherwise noted, parishioners interested in our choirs should contact Parish Music Director, John Bryan at 614.794.7303 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The ability to read music is not a prerequisite to join any St. Paul Choir. However, the music is challenging. Although the occasional absence is unavoidable, regular rehearsal attendance is necessary.
The Adult Choir serves liturgy from September through May. This choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and sings the weekly 10:30 a.m. Mass in addition to other special liturgies. New choristers meet with the Parish Music Director to determine which part will be sung. The Adult Choir is open to parishioners 18 years of age and older.
The Teen Choir year is made up of Choir Sessions. Each Session is comprised of 4 Sunday afternoon rehearsals that occur from 3:30 to 4:30. The Teen Choir serves the 5:00 p.m. Mass that follows the 4th rehearsal.
The dates for each Choir Session are emailed to choristers prior to that Session. Although multiple Sessions are held from September through May, Teen Choristers are not expected to make a yearly commitment. Instead, teens participate in as many Sessions as their schedules permit. The Teen Choir is open to parishioners in grade 9 – 12 and to those young men whose voices have changed prior to 9th grade.
The Youth Choir program begins in September and ends with their service at the 9:00 a.m. Easter Sunday Mass. This choir is open to students in grades 4-8 from our Day School and Parish School of Religion.
For Day School students, rehearsals are conducted on Thursdays beginning after school until 4:00. For Parish School of Religion students, rehearsals are held on Sunday afternoon from 2:30 to 3:30. However, some public school schedules of our PSR choristers allow them to attend the Thursday after school rehearsals in lieu of the Sunday afternoon rehearsals.
Beginning, in October, the Youth Choir serves a monthly (usually 9:00 a.m.) Mass. Youth Choristers are asked to make a seven-month commitment to this program. To facilitate this, the dates of all rehearsals and Masses are established and sent to parents prior to this commitment being made.
The Resurrection Choir leads the assembly in song at funerals. When necessary, rehearsals are held prior to a scheduled funeral. This ministry is open to parishioners 18 years of age or older. Interested parishioners should contact Jane Collinsworth at 614.392.2387.
