Parish Lenten ActivitiesSpend some quiet time with the Lord Stations of the Cross Friday Fish Frys St. Lawrence Haven Lenten Coffee Cup Collection St. Paul’s St. Vincent de Paul Conference (SVDP) is promoting the St. Lawrence Haven Lenten Coffee Cup Collection. The Haven regularly feeds a hot lunch to the homeless and the needy in the downtown area of Columbus. As you are likely aware, on the last Tuesday of the month our parish volunteers join together to assemble 2500-3000 bologna sandwiches for the Haven to distribute. After receiving a hot lunch at the Haven, those in need are given the bologna and cheese sandwiches so that they have nourishment for later in the day. For the past few months, the donations received by the Haven unfortunately have not covered their expenses. They need our help. Therefore, during the Lenten season we are requesting that you consider giving up a Starbuck’s cup of coffee, a dessert or special treat at the grocery store, a dinner out or simply collect your extra change each day and donate that money to the Haven. To further encourage you and to serve as a simple reminder, our SVDP Conference will be distributing St. Lawrence Haven coffee cups at all Masses on the First Sunday of Lent (Sunday, March 10). Please consider placing this cup on your kitchen counter as a constant reminder during the six weeks of Lent that your sacrifices will go far in feeding the hungry and homeless in downtown Columbus. (Extra coffee cups will be available in the Parish Office and in the vestibule of the church.) On the last Sunday of Lent, Palm Sunday (April 14), SVDP volunteers will collect your donations. If you have any questions, please call Jane Nieman at 614-794-9605. Thank you for your prayers and generosity that enable the SVDP Society to help the needy within our community and the city of Columbus.
