Saint Paul the Apostle Parish School of Religion (PSR) is part of the educational arm of the parish community, responsible for providing religious instruction (known as catechesis), formation and sacramental preparation to children attending public or non-Catholic private schools. Parents are the primary religious educators of their children within the life of the family. This is supported by the promises made by the parents at the baptism of a child. PSR exists to support you in this important work, and it is our privilege to partner with you and your family. With the commitment of others, we provide the children and youth of our parish a nurturing environment to grow in relationship with Jesus Christ and as missionary disciples.

Plans are underway to provide in person classes beginning in the fall. PSR classes will begin in mid-September and will take place in the St. Paul School. We will follow all Diocesan mandated guidelines and precautions regarding COVID. These guidelines will likely be a work in progress over the summer and even as school begins in the fall. Program updates will be communicated to registered families.
Some grades and sessions may fill quickly and need to be closed if we do not have enough volunteer coverage. You are encouraged to enroll early and to volunteer!
In Person Classes
Sessions will be offered on Tuesdays from 4:45-6:00pm and Wednesdays from 6:30-7:45pm for most grade levels. Please note, Kindergarten classes are only offered on Tuesdays and 8th grade classes are only offered Wednesdays.
We will return to our policy of offering Home Study for children in grades 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7. As per our normal policy, we will not offer Home Study for grades 2 & 8, as there are additional sacrament preparations during these grades that are best accomplished in person. If a family has COVID related health reasons for not attending in person classes for grades 2 & 8, please contact the PSR office to discuss options.
Sacrament Prep class
Students who have not begun Religious Education classes by Grade 3, or who have not been baptized by age 7, will be entered into a program designed to be intensely focused on the Sacraments, Church history and saints. This is intended for those baptized Catholics who have never received formal religious formation, or students who are converting from another faith tradition.
PSR for children with Special Needs
A Special Needs class for children is available during the Wednesday session. A parent/guardian or relative usually accompanies the student at class. This is a multi-age class for students who need more one on one support than can be provided in our typical PSR class of 15-20 students. A variety of materials and resources are included, and accommodations are made for the students as needed. Please contact the PSR office if you would like more information.
As always, our program would not be possible without the assistance of many volunteers. Volunteers are eligible for tuition discounts. All materials and training are provided. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the online volunteer form and a PSR staff member will contact you.
PSR tuition will remain at $220 for grades 2 & 8 and $200 for all other grades. There is a family cap of $500 per family. The family fee of $75 is waived if you register by June 30. Payment is appreciated at the time of registration, but not required. PSR tuition may be paid online through We Share as indicated on the online registration form. As always, payments can be made by check: payable to St. Paul PSR and mailed to 61 Moss Rd., Westerville, OH 43082. Flexible payment plans can be arranged by contacting the PSR office. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact the PSR office. Families will not be turned away due to inability to pay. Contact the PSR office for a Financial Assistance form.
